The sensor tip is heated and water flowing past it conducts heat away, which is used to detect flow. It has low pressure loss and a compact body. Typical uses are water flow switching, monitoring flow in industrial processes and detecting leaks, water flow control in HVAC systems and tracking water supply and consumption. It is installed in line with the water flow, wired to the control system and adjusted for the application.
